Burke AC and Fairfax County provide registration fee scholarships and/or a Fairfax County provided equipment voucher to help children participate in county sports programs. If you qualify for the school lunch program or other public assistance, you may qualify for the Fairfax County Sports Scholarship program. To take advantage of the scholarship program you must follow these steps:
First you must register your child as a scholarship player on the registration page. Scholarship registration will be accepted until the end of on-time registration. There will be no access to scholarship registration during late registration. All registrations after Feb 16, 2012 are credit card only. We do not accept mail in check or scholarship registrations during late registration so all scholarship registration must be completed by Feb 15 for the spring soccer season. This will allow time for you to mail in your paperwork to our PO Box before we submit the batch to the county.
Second you must submit a completed and signed Fairfax County Youth Sports Scholarship Program Application (pdf document) to Burke AC, at PO Box 11311 Burke VA 22009 within 10 days of registration. This signed form will act as your payment of the registration fee. Once the signed form is received by Burke AC, we will mark your child’s registration paid and your child can then be placed on a team. Your child will not be placed on a team until this completed and signed form is received. Here is the criteria for a complete application per Fairfax County:
Scholarship Applications MUST be completed in full – This includes:
· Child’s Last Name on Scholarship Form
· Parent’s Name(s) on Scholarship Form
· CITY listed on Scholarship Form (not just street address!) Please DON’T assume we will know the City and even if it is listed on the attached proof of aid, it must be on the scholarship form too!!
· Child’s Date of Birth, Age, School they attend and grade
· Parent’s phone #
All applications must be submitted to Burke AC within 10 days of the end of regular registration and should contain a good email contact. Applications that are not complete will be returned to the families. If we do not have correct Fairfax County scholarship paperwok in time, it could be too late to place your child on a team by the time we get all the completed forms. Fairfax County has changed the way that they administer the scholarship program. Each club must now submit ALL of their Fairfax County sports scholarship application forms together directly to the county at one time. In order to allow the county time to process these forms before the season starts, we will be submitting our scholarship batch by early March. The County will only process one batch so we need to set a deadline that will allow Fairfax County time to process these applications and mail out vouchers before the season starts. If for any reason Fairfax County does not approve your scholarship application, you will then owe the registration fee to Burke AC. You will need to pay this fee before your child can play.
