Spring/Fall:  The Burke Athletic Club field hockey program is conducted on Sunday evenings. We focus on a combination of skills training and scrimmages. We want to make sure our athletes understand the right way to play. Each group is coached by adults and high school and club players working with the younger field hockey players.

Goalkeeper Training:  TBA. Please let us know if you have a goalkeeper for the youth program.

A word about Friend Requests: Players are generally grouped by designated school (the school that is named in the registration) and grade level, but players from different schools can request to be grouped together. All players practice at the same time to facilitate carpool concerns across grade levels. Our home fields are at Lake Braddock Secondary School. Playing field hockey provides the opportunity to gain skills, make new friends, and learn teamwork. We hope that the girls have the goal of playing field hockey in high school.

We typically like to keep girls from the  same schools together so they can benefit from playing with future teammates. On the other hand, we will separate when their skills are significantly different or their behavior is disruptive to our coaches.

Our sessions include drills and instruction as well as scrimmages.

The uniform kit is $27 at Burke Sporting Goods.  It includes the t-shirt and reversible for our program. We use the same kit from season to season, so if you already have one, there’s no need for another set.  To order the kit online, CLICK HERE.  Equipment is an additional cost and can be purchased at Burke Sporting Goods or other sporting goods stores. You’ll want to make sure the sticks, shin guards, and mouthguards are the right size as these kids keep growing!

Please register early to ensure your spot in the program. During the last session it was necessary to close the registration as our number of players approached 110!
