Burke AC is a non-profit, charitable corporation devoted to promoting youth soccer in the Burke, VA area. The members of Burke AC are amateur players under 19 years of age prior to August 1 immediately before the start of the next seasonal year. (September 1 of one year through August 31 of the next year.)
BAC has over 1,500 registered players and provides soccer programs and activities for its members. Membership in BAC also brings with it membership in the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA), the United States Youth Soccer Association (US Youth Soccer) and US Youth Soccer’s Region I (Virginia - Maine).
BAC currently identifies three types of youth programs:
-
BAC’s House (recreational) teams are primarily interested in competition within our own community, at a recreational level, where participation and learning the skills of soccer are stressed. Players are registered to US Youth Soccer through VYSA.
-
BAC’s travel teams provide high level competition among teams from neighboring communities, other states, and other countries. BAC participates in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL), the Washington Area s Soccer League (WAGS), and the National Capitol Soccer League (NCSL).
-
BAC’s TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) program is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by BAC volunteers.
The activities of BAC are governed by a Board of Directors elected annually by its members. BAC currently depends primarily on player registration fees to fund its programs and activities
