Field Hockey is a sport that has been played all around the world for more than 4,000 years.
We have expanded to both spring and fall. The Burke Athletic Club program focuses on training and scrimmages. The program will be opened initially to players in third through eighth grade.
The Burke Athletic Club field hockey program is conducted on Sunday evenings for ninety minutes, 6:30-8:00. The first part of each session consists of drills and instruction from trained field hockey coaches. The second part is made up of scrimmages. We are also in the process of scheduling a couple of “play day” events with other local field hockey groups.
Our Spring 2012 season begins on March 25 and will be held from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at Patriot Park. On March 25 and April 1, our sessions will be held in the South Run Barn, 5:30-7:00 pm. We will not be playing on April 8 (the second Sunday of FCPS Spring Break). After Spring Break we will return to our home field, Patriot Park. Our season will conclude on May 20. Throughout the season we are planning on three play days when we will play games against other area clubs.
Our fee has increased $15 to allow for two indoor sessions and for paid officials at our last tournament.
Registration for the program is $120. The uniform kit is $20 at Burke Sporting Goods. Equipment is an additional cost and can be purchased at Burke Sporting Goods or other sporting goods stores. (Out-of-county players will be charged an additional fee during registration).
Please register early to ensure your spot in the program. During the last session it was necessary to close the registration as our number of players approached 110!
